All About Us

My Heart Supports the Troops (MHSTT) began in March 2003, with a small group of mid-Michigan men and women.
Who met at Burton's VFW Hall Post 2777, in response to a local telecast where now-group leader, Cheryl Molloseau, advertised an upcoming meeting, rally & T-shirts she designed.

The rally and first-meeting attendees included spouses, children, parents, grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles and other family and friends of those first called to serve in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Some were veterans from World War II, Korean and Vietnam War era. Some were retired, others juggled full-time jobs, both inside and outside the home.

Cheryl, to some affectionately referred to as a "little spitfire", immediately began leading the weekly Wednesday night meetings.

Jimmy, Cheryl's brother, then a 1st Sgt. with the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq, and about 100 of his fellow soldiers,
were among the first recipients of the group's "care packages."

Thanks to the great generosity of the groups members and the mid-Michigan-area, thousands of packages have been sent to those serving America overseas in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Anyone can submit names to the mailing list and recipients are not restricted to those with Michigan ties.
The group has mailed to over 2,500 different members of Americas military from all branches from as far away as Guam and Alaska.

The various fund raisers, all year long and the support of hundreds of our new mid-Michigan friends and family members,
help to collect some of the thousands of dollars to cover the costly shipping charges.

Over the Christmas season of 2019, the mailing of care packages cost the group over $5,000.00 for the boxes.
The number of care packages varies from meeting to meeting but the monthly cost of postage is generally around $1,200.00 plus all the great "stuff" that goes inside.

Normally, the group mails at least one time every month, we use the USPS flat rate boxes, which in 2023 cost $17.00+ each.
However, once each year, we mail a Christmas tree, complete with all the trimmings in a #7 Box, the cost of which is charged by weight.
The average cost for our Christmas tree box can be well over $50.00 each.

Thanks to all who made our troops holidays a little brighter.

In 2024, the group continues to meet regularly, usually on alternating Wednesdays,
at Burton's VFW Hall, Post 2777, 2260 S. Belsay Rd., Burton, MI, 48519.
